Description

Amity has spent a lifetime burning bridges. After orchestrating the downfall of the mage who ruined her family, she abandons her past to carve out a quiet, anonymous existence. But the past has a way of catching up, and for Amity, that past arrives in the form of Juniper—the icy, principled daughter of the man she destroyed. When the law finally circles back to claim its due, Juniper offers an ultimatum that feels like a trap: imprisonment, or indenture in the very mansion where their bitter rivalry first ignited. Amity chooses the mansion, gambling that she can outmaneuver her oldest enemy once more. However, the air in the estate is thick with unspoken history and the heavy tension of a decade’s worth of grudges. What begins as a cold standoff between a defiant servant and a rigid aristocrat slowly fractures into something far more volatile. As they navigate a web of family secrets and crumbling power structures, the lines between vengeful obsession and reluctant longing begin to blur. In this twisty, slow-burn fantasy, Amity and Juniper must decide if the hate that once defined them can truly be unmade, or if they are doomed to destroy one another instead.

Another amazing novel

Another amazing book by Hiyodori. I don't love the Clem and Wist series, so I wasn't sure how much I would like a book set more directly in their society but I loved it. Great drama, great characters, so many great lines and moments. I'm glad I didn't read it before work or I wouldn't have gotten anything done.

You cannot go wrong with a Hiyodori novel

Seriously, as soon as a new novel drops from Hiyodori, I will stop whatever I'm currently reading. This is just another great read. I love the cameos from previous books. Honestly, if you like Hiyodori, you'll like this book, there really isn't anything negative I can say.
