Description

Maxwell Giordano has mastered the art of living two lives. By day, he navigates the expectations of his traditional family, but when he embraces his truth as Maxine, he finally finds the belonging he craved on the cheer squad. Flanked by supportive friends and thriving in her element, Maxine feels more alive than ever. However, the tightrope walk between her two identities is becoming increasingly precarious. For Taylor Scott, senior year is a whirlwind of newfound confidence and happiness, all sparked by the arrival of Maxine. But as their bond deepens, the pressure of maintaining their necessary secrets begins to weigh heavily. Taylor is terrified by the growing realization that she is falling for a girl whose very existence is tethered to a fragile double life—one that might vanish entirely the moment graduation arrives. As they balance high-stakes cheer routines, intense family scrutiny, and the looming reality of the future, Maxine and Taylor must navigate a romance that is as heart-wrenching as it is inevitable. In this tense, slow-burn sequel, the two must decide if they are willing to risk everything to bridge the gap between who they are expected to be and who they truly are.

Truly Beautiful Story, beautifully written

I started both the first and second book in the series expecting the story to be a mildly interesting YA Coming Of Age tale. What I wound up with instead was an incredibly emotional journey through a human trauma and love story. I almost guarantee you won’t be able to put this book down and that you will be profoundly affected by it. In turns it’s sweet, funny, romantic, tender, but never disappointing. Read it and fall totally in love with the main and supporting characters. Enjoy a wonderful experience and warning—bring a generous supply of Kleenex for the tear filled moments

This is a great book that I wished it didn't end. While the ending was great I still want more. Thank you for writing a beautiful story.

Simply Fantastic Book

After finishing this story I just can't describe how it feels to me. I'm speechless for the first time. My heart goes out for Maxine and Taylor in this 2nd book. I am hoping that the author has plans for a follow up series, maybe a few years in Maxine's future, to maybe complete the story (like Max and Taylorget married, YES!). I'm hanging on the cliff waiting for what happened next! My review? READ THIS STORY!! BOTH BOOKS!! You won't regret it.

I waited a little no time for this book…….

I fell in love with the first book, When You Fell from Heaven, and anxiously waited for the sequel. It was sooooo worth the wait. This book had me alternately laughing and crying - especially crying for the last part of the book. As a transgender woman, I can totally relate to this story. Finally figuring it all out, finally understanding what has been wrong in your life, finally knowing who you really are, who you really are supposed to be - it is a real thing. It is the moment in every trans person’s life when suddenly everything makes sense, when you suddenly get it. To find that, to find a life, to find happiness and love….. And then to have it all stripped away due to ignorance of a religious parent, a parent who cares more about how the priest and the parish might see her than she does bout her own son. It makes me want to rip Maxine’s mother to pieces. And even writing this review makes me want to cry. I will be anxiously awaiting the third book!
