Description

Maggie and Gwen Pierce are masters of the domestic facade. While their home life has devolved into separate bedrooms, brittle silences, and performative parenting, they aren’t quite ready to finalize their divorce. To their social circle, they remain the golden couple, a status they have no intention of shattering—at least, not right before a high-stakes group trip to Las Vegas. When they join their friends for a boisterous bachelorette getaway, the pressure to act the part of the happy, devoted spouses becomes suffocating. Forced into a charade of public affection to keep up appearances, Maggie and Gwen find themselves navigating the bizarre contrast between their performative intimacy and their icy reality. But the neon glamour and unpredictable rhythm of Vegas have a way of stripping away defenses, turning a weekend of pretending into an unexpected confrontation with the truth. As the lines between fiction and feeling begin to blur, Maggie and Gwen are forced to reckon with the wreckage of their past. Is their marriage truly a expired contract, or is the distance between them just a long detour back to one another? Packed with sharp banter, romantic tension, and the relentless interference of meddling friends, After All is a heartfelt exploration of whether love can survive the expiration date.

Great wrap-up of the series

This was a great wrap-up of this trilogy, I think my favourite book in the series. It was so good to finally get a book about an already married couple that struggles with their relationship, and this book was written in such a believable way. After a few years together and small children so easy to no longer prioritize, communicate and see each other even though you still love each other. In this case they have even decides a separation is best and they are so close to a divorce. The book is written in dual POV and that is a great move since you get insight on how both Gwen and Maggie see things and that is quite different. They are such different personalities, Gwen the one with everything in perfect order and all planned and the very messy Maggie that does not at all get how Gwen can prioritize her job over her family. I must say that I sympathize with Gwen a lot that I think is misunderstood by Maggie, but of course always room for improvement. Fortunately, they have meddling friends that can nudge them to potentially turn everything around, make sure Maggie and Gwen realize they still love each other and should give this relationship a second chance.

Great series wrap up - but hoping for a spin off (Lillian!!)

This was such a great wrap up to the series. I so appreciated how the author used an established couple to run readers through angst - a lot of angst - to get to the HEA. And despite what another reviewer said, I know this work was not generative AI. Unlike the other reviewer who only spent time blasting the work of an author under an anonymous handle, I communicated with the author directly to talk about the engagement. She acknowledged not remembering - like a human - two of the characters previous engagement from an earlier book. However, she missed fixing one erroneous reference. Accusing someone of using AI without a factual basis and just conjecture is wholly inappropriate. Please do not give any credence to someone who hides behind anonymity.

Good

I was really looking forward to this book. I love all the characters in the Latitude & Longing series. Maggie & Gwen are definitely the most complicated. We finally get to know what Maggie is hiding. Watch out for the demon swan!

Bryce does it again

I am in awe. This book is so good, which really doesnt surprise me because Bryce is amazing. But wow. The imagery that she presents is so beautiful. She is so freaking clever and funny. This book flowed so well. It made me laugh and cry and swoon. Friends meddled in the background in a non-overbearing. This friend group is top-tiered. From the story, to the epilogue, to the acknowledgements. I loved this book!!
