Description

In the shadowy world of the Duskwalkers, where darkness is a tangible force and love is often a luxury, the sixth installment of the series brings us into the heart-wrenching, tender bond between Aleron and Gideon. This journey is anything but light—it is a slow-burning, soul-searing exploration of connection that tests the limits of devotion and the fragility of identity. Aleron, whose inherent sweetness acts as a beacon in the bleak, atmospheric setting of the series, finds himself entangled in a fate he never expected. Beside him stands Gideon, a character whose complexity mirrors the dangerous landscape they call home. As the two drift closer, they are forced to confront the tolls of their existence and the inevitable sacrifices required by their growing attachment. Readers will be swept away by an emotional rollercoaster that promises both heart-stopping tension and moments of vulnerable beauty. Opal Reyne balances the dark, monstrous allure of her world with the profound intimacy of a queer romance that refuses to play by traditional rules. It is a hauntingly gorgeous tale of two souls carving a home out of the void, proving that even in the deepest dusk, love is the most relentless flame.

An Amazing Read

This installment has been truly remarkable, Aleron is such a lovable, well written character who is the absolute sweetest duskwalker! Gideon is another absolutely wonderfully written lovable and relatable character, I love that there’s a male bride and that he is Emerie’s brother, so that Ingram and Aleron can make one big happy family finally. This story follows his and Gideon’s journey back into the world of the living, adventuring through Tenebris and learning some more valuable backstory in the process. This book ripped at all of my heartstrings, and tore me to shreds with the angst, but it was so worth it. This is truly a story where you understand from both points of view and feel the fear and trepidation of Gideon, and the absolute despair of Aleron throughout their trials in this book. This book was one of the longest, and yet it still was so easy to read, packed full of events and emotional moments that really made this read feel so much shorter and still I wanted for more! I can’t wait for the next book 💜

Best MM Book Ever

When I met Gideon and Aleron in the afterlife in ingram's book, I was like, pleaseeee let them be a couple. So when the author announced that they would be, I jumped and danced like an idi0t lol. To say I was waiting for this book is an understatement, and after reading it, I was not disappointed at all. OMG I loved this book...I know I keep saying this about every book but I think its my favourite one lol...okay okay they are all my favourite maybe except Merikh's book but I did like it too. I loved both Gideon and Aleron so muchhhh It's hard to explain how much. This book was an emotional roller coaster, and even though not much happened in terms of events, I still loved how the author made you feel emotions throughout the book. I cried. I laughed. I felt it all throughout. I also noticed that as the series progresses, the author reveals a different side to demons it makes them more complex, like there is more to them. Do you know how you can love something so much that you can't even explain it!!! This is me now, lol. I loved this book with all my heart, and I loved how MM was presented in this book. This is my favourite MM book ever. FYI, I want to cuddle Aleron soo much...he is adorable.

Another enthralling story, I couldn't put it down.

4/ 5 star Heat rating: 3.5 peppers (the scenes detail is a 4/5 but I felt the frequency of them were a little less than other books in the series) I feel a little like my brain is reeling from this book, and I ping pong back and forth from a 4 to a 4.5 stars. Overall, I enjoyed the busy plot of the story, but I think for me it was just a slower burn than I wanted between the main characters. This book is filled with humor, angst, pain, and spice. This book, like all of Opal’s books, is a wild ride. Aleron- The bat skulled Mavka with wings, he was the cuddly monster I wanted to hug, especially in the middle of the story. His journey was not an easy one, between missing his twin Ingram, he was also was trying to handle his evolving relationship with Gideon. Gideon- He is Emerie’s adopted brother, who we met briefly in the previous book. I think he was a good match for Aleron, as they both have very playful natures. I enjoyed his humor and sarcastic personality. I did however find him frustrating at roughly 50% (to keep this as unspoiler filled as I can). I understood Gideon's reasoning especially after it first happened, but it was hard to bear after a certain point, like he was needling Aleron past the acceptable point for me. The burn between them might have been just a little too slow for me. Once they got past it I enjoyed watching them grow together. Can I note just how much I love the glimpses at the other Duskwalkers that we get? It gives me such a warm feeling…

It ripped my heart out in the best way

How does Opal keep making each book better than the last?! I'd fallen completely in love with the Duskwalker twins back in A Soul to Touch when Kitty played with them. Then in A Soul to Revive, we lost Aleron and my heart shattered. Like Ingram, I wasn't sure how to go on without him and felt completely devastated. This book was Aleron's journey to find a bride and Opal's amazing step into MM monster romance. At the end of the last book, I immediately knew Aleron and Gideon were going to be the next couple. There was instant chemistry. Watching them fall for each other and have another of our low humanity Duskwalkers become introduced to love and sex was everything! I found myself kicking my feet and squealing into my pillow multiple times because of how freaking cute they both were. Aleron is probably the Mavka with the least amount of humanity so far and watching him learn everything is so adorable. Gideon turned out to be just as playful as Aleron and his kindred and it was such a delight watching them grow together. Aleron's reassurance that Gideon's gender did not matter to him, only how he made him feel made me tear up. I swear these Duskwalkers are so smooth without meaning to be! I was excited about the book taking place in the afterlife that is Weldir's stomach and it really did not disappoint. The amount of lore in this series always blows me away. It's always expanding and we learn something new each book. We got introduced to a new Duskwalker we hadn't seen…

Very emotional story, 4.5 star

Another great addition to the series. My first M/M romance, not really my thing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The fluffy romance is amazing, but because of it, I could really feel the pain in the second half of the book when things between the two characters become strained. The story smoothly continues where we left the characters in book 5 (necessary to read in order to understand what's going on) which was neat and it made it nice knowing we don't need any kind of rundown with some information. Aleron is super sweet and it's interesting to see how similar he is to his twin, yet so different. That sounds silly, but these two acted like one being in all of their appearance s prior to book 5. Once again, I enjoyed the cameos we got in this book. Even though one was a pair we see quite often in these books, they are my favorite and their update was sweet and heart warming. We also get to meet a new character with a character design I'm interested in seeing how it works out in the next book because the next book is about this character! There's a reason why I didn't rate this one a complete 5. It was not the smut scenes. They were indeed sexy and exciting, even though M/M isn't my jam, I was caught in how exotic and passionate these two characters were with each. Without giving away spoilers, there were just parts of the plot that seemed to drag the second half of the story. The book is long, and I can definitely say I wasn't expecting the plot to go the way that it…
