Description

Tristan has been head-over-heels for his best friend, Wolfe, for half his life. But since Wolfe is straight and Tristan values their friendship above all else, he’s buried those feelings deep. That is, until his sister—who happens to be marrying the goalie from their rival college hockey team—breaks Wolfe’s heart. To get a little revenge, the duo concocts the perfect plan: they’ll attend the upcoming wedding festivities as fake boyfriends. It starts as a hilarious way to stick it to his sister, but the charade quickly spins out of control. Forced to navigate a pre-wedding shower, hostile teammates, and the suffocating scrutiny of Tristan’s family, the line between performance and reality begins to blur. When one kiss shatters the illusion of their "fake" status, Tristan discovers that Wolfe isn't as straight as he thought—and the tension between them becomes impossible to ignore. As they commit to keeping up the ruse for months, they find themselves caught in a high-stakes game of keep-away with their own hearts. Amidst the chaos of the hockey season and mounting secrets, these two idiots in love must decide if their fake relationship is worth the very real risk of losing their friendship forever.

Bestfriends

I absolutely love this book! Wolfe has loved his best friend Archangel since childhood. Angel has been in love with Wolfe since high school. Wolfe is straight, right? Angel is gay! They have always had physical contact and cuddles. Now Wolfe suggests a fake relationship. This going to be a wild ride! Read in 12 hours only put it down to sleep a few hours. Amazing book!

Alright

I loved Ktytor and Seaborn’s book very much and was looking forward to Wolfe and Archangel’s since I love when best friends realize they are in love with each other, and don’t get me wrong, the story is enjoyable, there are funny moments, but I didn’t love it. For one they don’t become physical until more than halfway through the book. And while they love each other this book didn’t give the all-consuming love I would die without you vibe. If the author meant to then he fell short. My heart didn’t beat for these two unfortunately. I still recommend it but probably not at the top of the list to read right away.

The best kind of friends

For as long as he can remember, Archangel has been in love with his best friend Wolfe, even when Wolfe dated his sister for two years, before she cheated on him and made him swear off relationships forever. Now his sister is getting married and his Wolfe offers to come posing as his boyfriend for a little payback, and while Archangel agrees, the more time they have to spend posing as lovers, the more the lines start to blur, and when they share what can only describe as the best kiss of his life, he starts to worry whether this ruse will cost him his best friend, or his heart. After having his heart broken as a freshman in college, Wolfe swore he would never date again, casual hookups are the most he’s allowed himself for four years. But when the chance for a little payback on his ex comes up, he can’t pass it up, especially since she’s marrying the goalie from their biggest rival. After their first weekend of posing as a couple, Wolfe notices Archangel pulling away, and since they’ve taken a vow of celibacy, losing the closeness of his best friend makes it even harder for him to cope. The more time they spend pretending though, the less it starts to feel like pretending, and maybe what Wolfe was looking for was in front of him all along. I received an early copy of this book from The Author Agency and I absolutely loved it! Wolfe and Archangel were some of my favourite characters in the previous books, and they definitely didn’t disappoint in this one. I couldn’t help but…

Angel has been in love with his straight best friend, Wolfe, for forever. Since way before his sister dated him, and then broke Wolfe's heart. It's fine. He's dealing with it. But now his sister is getting married, and he doesn't want to go to the wedding and deal with his family's homophobic crap on his own. So, Wolfe volunteers to pretend they're dating and go with him. Angel gets to have someone on his side around while dealing with his family and Wolfe gets a little revenge on Angel's sister. A win-win. But then Angel's sister says he can't have a plus one to the wedding unless he brings his boyfriend to the shower for her to meet him first. Which means they're going to have to keep up the fake dating charade for a lot longer than they originally planned. Wolfe insists it won't bother him to keep up the ruse (and therefore go without sex) for that long, but Angel worries it will start to bother his best friend for a while. (And that he won't survive fake dating someone he has real feelings for that long.) I loved the concept and the plot of this book, but I didn't think it was as well executed as it could have been. I found it a little hard to follow at times. I frequently found myself confused about who was speaking, and a few times I just didn't have any clue what was happening in a scene. This might have been a me problem, but it's not a problem I tend to have when reading. I did enjoy the fake dating aspect and all the delicious tropey goodness that came along…

Bestie with Sass

This one really pulled me in—I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” and suddenly I was way further in than I planned. Wolfe and Angel already have that built-in best friend connection that makes this trope work so well, and adding fake dating (with all the messy history involving Angel’s sister 👀) just made it even more fun to watch unfold. The first half is more of a slow burn—lots of tension, flirting, and just enough hockey to keep things interesting. But the second half is where it really takes off. The banter gets sharper, the chemistry ramps up, and everything just hits a little harder emotionally. What I liked most was how solid their relationship felt from the start. Even with all the complications around them, there’s so much care and support between Wolfe and Angel. And honestly? The communication was refreshing. No unnecessary drama, no drawn-out misunderstandings—just two people actually showing up for each other. Also loved that there wasn’t a big, dramatic third-act breakup. It let their relationship grow in a way that felt natural while still giving all the tension and payoff you want from a story like this. The spice is definitely there and really well done, but it’s not constant or over the top—it fits the story instead of taking it over. Overall, this was such a fun, emotional read. If you love best friends-to-lovers with a little angst, a little sass, and a lot of heart, this one’s worth picking up. 💙
