Description

The world of professional ballet is a stage built on obsession, punishing discipline, and the fragile intersection of art and ambition. In A Choreography of Longing, the spotlight turns toward a high-stakes environment where every pirouette demands perfection and every whisper in the wings can shatter a reputation. Amidst the grueling rehearsals and the heavy pressure of mounting a career-defining performance, two dancers find themselves caught in a dance of a different kind. As they navigate the rigid hierarchy and cutthroat rivalries of their elite company, a magnetic spark ignites between them, threatening to upend everything they have worked for. It is a slow-burn romance that defies the stifling expectations of their craft, forcing both women to question whether they are chasing the art of ballet or the possibility of an authentic life together. With sharp prose and an intimate look at the relentless grind of the studio, this story captures the exquisite tension between public performance and private passion. It is a deeply layered sapphic drama that explores the sacrifices made for love and the courage required to step out of the shadows. For those who crave atmospheric storytelling and emotional complexity, this novel delivers a breathtaking performance.

TB and Miranda Jetè Into Yet Another Wonderful Romance

My favorite writing duo have done it again! This story is everything and more you could ever ask for in a romance set amidst the fascinating world of ballet. There's love, betrayal, scandal, secrets, intrigue and bravery all interwoven with the story of two rival ballet companies. Portia is the daughter of ballet royalty and already established when she meets Eden - younger, still trying to make the cut in the dance world in a make or break Intensive Program. Their attraction is forbidden yet immediately undeniable. But betrayal, miscommunication, and timing tear them apart leaving both with broken hearts. They don't see one another until 15 years later when they're forced to work together. The attraction is definitely still there - but can they ever get past all the hurt, can they ever reach the point of complete trust necessary to move forward? Well this is a beautiful romance with a happy ending so of course they do. But along the way, they learn the force that broke them apart was not what either thought. They'll also discover and expose a history of abuse and cover-up in the dance world they love. Through it all, they learn to never give up on their dreams - dreams that may start as one thing but evolve and grow to be something even more. The story, all the wonderful characters (including a little girl that steals the scene every time she appears), the setting all come together in a way only this duo can make happen. With this book, TB and Miranda Jetè Into Yet Another…

An amazing love story for the ages.

Five stars do not do this book justice. I have read most, if not all, of TB Markinson and Miranda MacLeod's' books. For me this is one of their best collaborative efforts. They bring an insight into the world of ballet that is both surprising and at times shocking. It is a world filled with intrigue, scandal, corruption and exploitation. A world so rich in detail and breathtaking descriptions that the reader is immediately drawn in. At the center is Portia, the teacher and Eden, the student torn apart by miscommunication. Most importantly it is a love story that waited 15 years to be told. You are filled with anticipation as they navigate the distrust created but also that spark of love that still burns in their hearts. Excellent dialogue, well written secondary characters and subplots all come together to a final conclusion as Portia and Eden's story stays with you long after the last page is read. "A good book makes you want to live in the story. A great book gives you no choice". (author unknown) This is that great book.

Wonderful story

T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod have crafted another award-worthy story with A Choreography of Longing, featuring principal ballet dancers Portia Duvall and Eden Sorenson, who begin as teacher and student, respectively, and become secret lovers. The premier dancers, each strong, ambitious, charismatic, and deeply-feeling, suffer a heart-wrenching breakup, and spend 15 years apart at competing New York City ballet companies. The co-writers combine a compelling, intriguing plot with main characters you’ll respect, root for, and laud as they take on the ballet establishment. I was keenly engaged in Portia’s and Eden’s work to recreate their relationship and their careers; enamored with and entertained by Portia’s octogenarian mother, a retired globally renowned prima ballerina; and smitten with an adorable, imaginative four-year-old.

Another Great Book

This story of Eden and Portia was great. It took a while for them to find each other again. The miscommunication, the love and the dance. It was a cool book. I enjoyed it.

A beautiful 2nd chance love story!

A beautifully, fabulous written second chance story! The heat between Eden and Portia is immediate! But a misunderstanding separates them for 15 years, though they didn't stop thinking about one another. Two premier ballerinas. When life throws them back together and they talk things out, they realize their love for one another. I've only seen the Nutcracker ballet on stage once. I was enthralled, but I never got into the idea of ballet. This changed my mind! This book is A FAVORITE!! Worth more than 5 stars!
